In the first several years, the San Joaquin Music Society will host four concerts each year, featuring various ensembles including string quartets, wind quintets, percussion ensembles, piano trios, and others. As our name becomes known in the community, we aim to present an annual music festival in June, featuring old and new music, something for everybody. We expect to team with the Fresno Philharmonic for at least one concert during our festival, and possibly underwrite on Philharmonic concert each season in support of our vision.
Concerning our vision, we believe that while the canon of "classical" music is valid and relevant to the 21st century, not all of the good musical ideas have been tapped. Therefore, we plan to present a mixture of the famous and great music of our past and the music of our own time.
